Why are the monthly rates different for some items during the summer vs. the winter?
At Parentals, we strive to provide the lowest possible prices for rental items so that the option to rent is within reach for the average budget. In fact, Parentals is proud to have the lowest prices available in Canada for most of the items we rent and we are the only baby gear rental company in Canada (that we know of) to offer monthly rates. However, demand for rental items dramatically increases in Winnipeg during the summer months, and we must balance that demand with our ability to store equipment the rest of the year. Therefore, we chose to keep our daily and weekly rental prices low year-round. During the cooler, off-season months, our monthly rates are twice the weekly rate, so essentially you pay for two weeks and get two weeks for free. During the warmer, high-season months of June, July and August, you essentially pay for three weeks and get one week free. There are some items which have the "off season" monthly rates year-round due to either lower demand for these items or these items are simply less expensive to purchase new. Can you please explain this Referral Program to me?
Certainly. If you refer Parentals to someone else and they rent from us, you BOTH will receive 10% off your orders. The person you referred to Parentals will receive 10% off right away if they tell us they found out about Parentals by a referral from you and you will receive the discount on your next order. At Parentals, we think that a referral is a great compliment and we want to thank anyone who passes along the word about our baby equipment rental company.
Where is your store?
The short answer is that there is no store. Parentals operates via the website, which shows accurate pictures of the items you are renting, and by the telephone and email to answer any questions you might have. You can get your rental items delivered or come and pick them up at the UPS Store (212 Henderson HWY) How do I place an order?
We have several methods for submitting orders. You can call in your order to 1-204-291-7989 or send your order in an email to sales@parentals.ca. Contact us and we can email you an order form in Word that you can fill out and email back to us. Or you can follow the link to our online order form. Please read the Parentals Inc. Terms and Conditions prior to submitting your order. A credit card is required for your reservation.
How do I pay for the order?
We accept several different methods to pay for your order. Want to pay by credit card? You can request an emailed invoice, which is payable online using Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Paypal. Want to pay by cheque? We accept cash or cheque at delivery or you can mail us a cheque, which must be received a minimum of 48 hours prior to the rental start date. Want to pay by cash? We accept cash when we deliver your order. Please note there will be a $40 fee for any returned cheques. Our Rental Agreement must be signed before you can receive your rental items.
How do I receive my order? You have the option to pick up your order or have your order delivered.
Pick-up Option: If you choose to pick up your items, pick up will take place at the UPS Store (212 Henderson HWY) on a prearranged date between 8am and 6pm Monday-Friday or 10am-4pm on Saturday. When your rental period is over, you must drop off your items on the prearranged date at the UPS Store (212 Henderson HWY) during their business hours. If you want to meet with Danielle or Marla personally at pick-up, or need to pick-up or drop-off items outside the UPS Store hours, that can be arranged by request. There is a $5.00 fee for pick-up service. Delivery Option: If you choose the delivery option, we will deliver your items to your door and when your rental period is over we will pick up items from your house (or hotel). Delivery outside of Winnipeg and delivery on weekends may be possible, so please ask when you call.
What is your delivery charge? There is a minimum order total of $30 (before taxes or delivery) for an order to be delivered.
PLEASE NOTE: the prices listed below include delivery AND retrieval of the items. If you only want either delivery OR retrieval, the delivery charge will be halved.
Delivery is $25 city-wide for orders under $100, $20 for orders $100-$200 and $15 for orders over $200 (before tax). Is there a minimum order amount? There is a minimum order of $20 (before taxes) for an order to be picked up. There is a minimum order of $30 (before taxes or delivery) for an order to be delivered.
When should I make a reservation? We recommend that you make a reservation as soon as you know you will be needing child equipment rentals. We also know that life is sometimes unpredictable and we will do our best to accommodate last minute rentals.
What is your cancellation policy? Our cancellation policy is to provide a full refund if reservations are cancelled 48 hours prior to your delivery date. We will refund 50% of the rental fee if reservations are cancelled within 48 hours of the delivery date. What if I need to keep my rental equipment past my return date? If you require an extension to your rental period or if you know you will be late, please call Parentals immediately (204-291-7989) to avoid late charges and to minimize inconvenience to other renters. Parentals will accomodate extensions if other reservations and scheduling will permit. If Parentals comes to collect your rental on the return date and the rental equipment is not available for pick-up, a $25 administrative charge will be assessed to your credit card immediately. Similarly, if you do not show up to drop off your rental items on the prearranged date, a $25 administrative charge will be assessed to your credit card immediately. Late returns are subject to a one-day rental charge on each item for each day or portion of a day that equipment is returned after the specified return date and time on your reservation. What if I need something that is not on the equipment list? Call with your request, and we will do our best to accommodate.
Do you charge tax? Yes, we will add PST (7%) to your order. We do not charge GST.
I am really concerned about cleanliness. Specifically how do you clean your items?
We follow the Infection Control Guidelines from the Government of Manitoba. These are the same regulations that all Manitoba Day Cares must follow to help stop the spread of germs among children. All items at Parentals go through a two-step sanitizing process. All surfaces and toys are sprayed with a bleach solution and are wiped clean. All fabrics are machine or hand washed (as appropriate) in warm water with a mild detergent and are thoroughly dried. We have heard a lot about bed bugs in the media recently too, and take great steps to ensure our gear is clean for you. We have never had an issue with bed bugs and we never want an issue with anything like that. So, we bleach and sanitize all gear and wash linens and dry them in the dryer to ensure they are clean for you and for us too. For more info, please see the Parentals Blog.
How can you assure me your products are safe? At Parentals, we use high quality, brand name equipment for our rentals. We regularly check for recalls and safety inspect all equipment after each rental. We quickly remove any equipment that does not meet our high standards. We are also on the email list for recalls from Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission so we are immediately aware of any recalls. Want to see links to these pages? What happens if something is damaged during a rental? While we expect normal wear and tear, we will charge replacement cost if equipment has been broken, damaged or is missing. We will also charge an additional cleaning fee of $25 per order for items returned with gum, vomit, poop, or smelling of cigarette smoke. We will notify you if any additional charges will apply.
What happens if the car seat I rented was involved in a motor vehicle accident? Any car seat that has been in an accident must be destroyed. Therefore, we require that we are informed if any of our car seats has been involved in an accident. We will provide a replacement car seat for the duration of your rental period (dependant on availability) at no additional charge. However, we do require that you forward any compensation you receive from your insurance company for the car seat to Parentals. If your insurance company will not provide you with compensation for the car seat, we just require a letter from the insurance company to that effect.
